Aaahh!!! Real Monsters Wiki

-Oblina's farewell line

Oblina is one of the protagonists from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. She often bickers with Ickis, one of her two roommates. Oblina goes to The Monster Academy for an education. She is the brains of the group and is very well behaved, unlike Ickis and Krumm. Oblina treats Krumm very well, so much that once Krumm thought that she had a "squish" on him. She is a very hard worker.

Oblina comes from a wealthy monster family. She is shaped like a black and white, upside-down candy cane. Oblina is believed to be Gromble's best current student. One of her favorite methods of scaring humans is reaching within herself and pulling out her internal organs, and she has considerable talent for shapeshifting into various terrifying forms. She also has a talent for inducing nightmares in humans, by sticking her finger in their ear and tickling their brains while they sleep. Oblina is interested in reading and is very practical.

Oblina and her friends.

Despite their bickering, Oblina befriends Ickis and goes on lots of adventures with him. Her family has collected enough toenails to keep her living in the lap of monster luxury for life. But just because she is rich doesn't make her spoiled. She is always ready to help out her friends, especially Ickis and Krumm, when they find themselves in a scary predicament. Oblina is excellent at scares as well. Her slender form can contort and expand to frightening displays of teeth, lips and tongue that can turn just about any human's hair white and have them running away in fear. Oblina proves once and for all that "girl power" is alive and well, even in the monster world! She's the most hardworking and matured of the trio so she tends to be like a big sister to Ickis and Krumm.

Oblina is a vaguely serpent-like monster, with a flexible body covered in white and black stripes. She has red and puffy lips and lots of crooked, spaced teeth, though she can willingly bare sharp fangs. Her eyes are green with black slit shaped pupils. She has eyelashes and four strands of hair atop her skinny head.

Oblina has appeared in most episodes of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Her first appearance was in The Switching Hour. Her last appearance was in "Ghost Story", a crossover episode of Rugrats. Oblina has appeared in every episode except for "Showdown" and "The Great Escape", the latter of which she was only mentioned.

  • Her monster power is that she can shapeshift, pull out her internal organs and show her fangs.
  • Despite her talent for gut-pulling, in the unaired pilot she expresses a dislike for the technique.
  • Oblina is the only monster other than Slickis who has been shown to be able to completely change color while shape-shifting.
  • An Oblina action figure was made for Mattel's Aaahh!!! Real Monsters line in 1995.
  • She was originally played by the late Christine Cavanaugh, whose voice credits include Gosalyn Mallard from Darkwing Duck, Dexter in Dexter's Laboratory (seasons 1 and 2 as well as early season 3), Bunnie Rabbot in Sonic the Hedgehog, and Chuckie Finster in Rugrats (seasons 1 to 7 as well as early season 8). Coincidentally, Oblina appeared in the episode Ghost Story.
  • After Cavanaughs’ unfortunate passing on December 22, 2014, Oblina is now voiced by voice actor Alex Cazares in any new piece of media that she appears is in, such as crossovers and video games. Cazares is probably best known as the current voice of Lulu from the WarioWare series, and also as the voice actor for Carlino “Carl” Casagrande from both The Loud House and its spin off series, The Casagrandes[1].
  • Oblina is the true protagonist of the series, because she had bigger plans than Ickis and knew the academy personally.
  • Oblina has most recently been a playable character in the Nickelodeon platform fighter, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. However, she was unfortunately cut from the roster for its sequel, Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2.
  • In the episode, "I Heard the Snorch Call My Name", she became friends with the Snorch when he got a beautiful voice box.
  • It’s quite possible that her English accent may or may not be fake, this is due in part to two possible reasons. One reason is that neither her mother Sublima nor her father Skeech speak in an English accent of any kind whatsoever. Another possible reason is that in the episode, “Oblina Without a Cause”, once Oblina starts to rebel, she ditches the English accent in favor of a Southern accent. It’s also possible that she obtained the accent from possibly spending a ton of her early life with Lugo, who actually does have an English accent, and his accent rubbed onto her until she adopted it as her main one.

"I hate to say I told you so, but... actually, I don't hate it at all! I told you so, I told you so, I told you so!"

“A human works from sun to sun, but a monster's work is never done!”
