Scarfer has not appeared in any episodes of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, but is featured as a toy in the Dare to Scare figure set.
This toy design was created by Mel Birnkrant for a toyline of "Creatures," which he took to a few companies before landing a deal at Mattel. The original toy was more dragon-like, but the mechanisms were adapted to fit the style of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. The unnamed toy that would become Scarfer was originally brown and more menacing than the bright blue Scarfer. Birnkrant successfully sold his designs of characters like Snarfle, Werfel, Haluga, Kaluga, and more, while contributing to other aspects of Mattel's short-lived toy line based on this animated program.
